The Weekend of Awesomeness

As my uncle would put it.

It started with a funeral.

Scratch that.

It started with a tire blow-out on the way to the funeral.

Everyone was okay, but we arrived a bit sweaty and smelling faintly of highway.

Take note: this is why you always plan an extra thirty minutes when your destination is over an hour away.

The funeral was for Uncle Phil's aunt.

After which, we had lunch at three, at a delicious Mediterranean restaurant.

After arriving at their apartment, we discussed what to do for the rest of the afternoon. Thor was mentioned, as was Ironman 2, so while Uncle Phil started dinner, Aunt Lauren and I watched Thor.

T'was fascinating! Now the second one makes more sense.

Dinner was a delicious meal of chicken, salad, and potatoes.

Because we needed to stay awake late (reason will be disclosed soon), we settled down to watch Ironman 2.

The movie was over around 11ish. We started Saturday morning by going to a midnight showing of Jurassic Park at the local theater. It's a bit more intimidating to see it on a bigger screen. We got back around 2:30 and went to bed around 3. Slept in until 11, and helped make a brunch of waffles, hash browns, and sausage.

Since Aunt Lauren needed to go to Target, I went along. Upon our return, we settled down for an hour or two to read/rest. I finished A Tale of Two Cities! And started A Wrinkle in Time.

Once that was done, The Lost World: Jurassic Park was watched while eating sandwiches and popcorn.

Dinner was home-made pizza with sweet potato fries while watching Jurassic Park III.

Out of the trilogy, I think I like the second one best. It has slightly less "stupid" (people doing idiotic things) in it. I love how the entire series has an under-lying theme of "a family sticks together, and protects each other."

Now I want to see the fourth one.

Church was at 9:30, but since both of them are on the praise team, we had to leave at 8. Aunt Lauren advised me to bring a book(s) to keep me occupied. I finished A Wrinkle in Time.

The service was great!

For lunch, they took me to a cafe. After that, we went back to the apartment to read/rest until leaving for home at 3:30.

It was a very fun weekend!

When I left on Friday, Mom and Gabe where arriving home later that night from their DC trip. While they were away, Dad decided to re-organize the garage (with our help) so that we could park both of the cars inside. It was no easy chore, but we got the bulk of it done in one evening (meaning, we stayed up until 11 that night). I wish I could have been there when they pulled in!

  2. A Tale of Two Cities! How did you like it? I have it downstairs on my bookshelf and I need to read it. It will be my first Dickens'. I'm not really interested in Dickens and the only reason I am kinda interested in A Tale of Two Cities is because it is a story of the French Revolution and I like most books that deal with that.

Jurassic World. I haven't seen any of the movies but my little brother goes around talking about it because he plays Lego games about it. From what I have seen (which is unskippable trailers on YouTube) I think it looks kinda dumb. But that is just my opinion. :)

    1. It was beautifully written, but a little over my head. There were so many characters and subplots. I had a difficult time discerning the protagonist from the antagonist. There was one night where I had a really bad dream after reading it, so just don't read it before bed.

That's great that you want to read it though!
      :D
It is quite a bit tamer than the original trilogy, but I still like it. :)

  3. oooh, A Wrinkle in Time!! That book is so rich and fascinating. You should read the rest of the Time Quintet, if you enjoyed that one!! I would like to read a tale of two cities sometime, but Sherlock Holmes is my current occupation.
