I'mnotgettingsick, I'mnotgettingsick, I'mnotgettingsick.... oh dragon's teeth!
Bang goes that theory. -_-
Night before last, the heater ran all night, and I had the brilliant idea to accidentally sleep a large portion of the night with my mouth open.
Fast-forward to 7:30 yesterday morning. I woke up with a sore throat. Determined to not let it get me down, I continued to function like normal, despite the fact that all I really wanted to do was ignore my alarm clock and pull the blankets back over my head.
I marched downstairs and promptly brewed myself a mug-full of tea. Most the the day, I was able to act like nothing was out of the ordinary- I was even able to finish my science for the rest of the year! (*throws confetti*)
After dinner though, I started getting really really tired. When Mom read us a story in the living room, I almost fell asleep. After she finished, I went back up to my room. If it hadn't been only 8ish I would have gone to sleep immediately, but it was, so instead, I crawled into bed with a book.
I little while later, little sister Mia, came and asked if she could pray over me. Sweet adorable little girl, I love you so much!
9:30 hit me with full force, so I finished my chapter and pulled the covers up to my chin before turning out the light. Regardless of the fact that I felt like sleeping until next weekend, for the life of me, I couldn't fall asleep.
Sometimes I have to tell myself not the think before trying to sleep |
After a while of shifting around, I decided to see if sleeping on the couch being stored in my room would help any.
I shoved the pillows into a pile at one end of the couch before grabbing a quilt and wrapped myself up burrito-style. I figured out just how narrow the couch was when I tried to roll over.
Glory be, I was able to fall asleep for three hours, then I woke up and tried to go back to sleep in my bed. Still didn't work, so I sighed and went back to the couch. I was awakened by my alarm at 7:30 this morning. I tried to ignore it, because I was still really tired, but it kept beeping insisting that I get up and turn it off. So I did, that re-wrapped myself back up and slept for another hour.
Mia came back in my room and prayed over me again, then Dad came to tell me that he made me tea, and it was waiting for me downstairs.
Breakfast was leftover pancakes from Sunday.
Mom is also sick. She looks pretty miserable.
Lydia and Ava made cookies this morning.
I'm feeling a bit better.
Aw that stinks! I actually just got over a mini cold and the weird thing is that it came the same way you are describing... Sorry to give you this bad news. It lasted for four to five days which is actually amazing considering my other colds. Tea does great things! I'll be praying for you! :D
ReplyDeleteWell, it would, if I could smell it (sorry, I couldn't resist). :)
DeleteOh yeah. It's been a while since I've had a cold that long, glad you got better!
Agreed, tea is awesome. Thanks so very much!
Haha! Thanks! Although I didn't get an LOTR marathon, I'm glad I'm back to normal :D
DeleteI'm so sorry you're sick :( (But may I just say, #RESPECT for finishing your science with the beginnings of a sore throat. I applaud you, ma'am.)
ReplyDeleteThat picture…SO TRUE!!!
I'll be praying for you and your mom! :)
Yeah, I had already done a sort-of test preparation-type thingy, but then a couple hours later I decided to check and see how long the test actually was. It was short, so I decided to just get it over with. Let me tell you, I'm so glad I did!
DeleteYAS!
Thanks a bunch! She's looking a little more perky now.
Awww, so sorry to hear that you're sick! I went to bed last night and thought my throat felt a little funny. When I woke up this morning, I had a sore throat. :P My sister and mom are both sick, too. My grandpa brought the cold all the way from Kentucky when my grandparents arrived on Tuesday. I was hoping to evade the cold, but to no avail. Ah, well. I shall console myself by beginning the show When Calls the Heart. :)
ReplyDeleteHope y'all get better soon! That's a good consolation, also a "Lord of the Rings" marathon can do the trick (did that when I had my Wisdom teeth out).
DeleteYES! Lord of the Rings always helps :D :D :D
DeleteThat's too bad. It is cold season though...I've had congestion for a week :(
ReplyDeleteIf you add some lemon and honey to your tea and just inhale some of the steam it may help. Hope you feel better soon!
Ugh yeah. Hope you feel better soon!
DeleteIt does help, a lot. Thanks! :)
I know that feeling!! I hate being sick and I lose SOOO much sleep when I am sick with a sore throat.
ReplyDeleteI hope you all feel better soon!! I'll be praying for you!
Usually I end up sleeping a whole lot more when I've got a sore throat, it's when I've got a stopped-up nose that I really don't sleep much.
DeleteThanks a bunch!
Oooh, being sick is misery! I'm glad your feeling a bit better! And good work on getting your science done, I would have probably pushed it off.
ReplyDeleteTea is amazing!!
Yes and yes. :D
DeleteI'm so glad that I don't have any more science to do for a while!
Oh, I'm sorry!! Get better soon!
ReplyDeleteWow, that picture...very true... :D
Thanks, and will do. :)
DeleteOh you poor thing!!! I hope you feel better soon and in time for Christmas! Praying for you! I do the same thing working through a sore throat, but then I end up wishing I hadn't... I should definitely start When Calls the Heart next time I get sick @Mary. :)
ReplyDeleteIt must've been a quick 72-hour virus or something, I feel almost completely better now- thanks to all the prayers. :)
DeleteThat's so adorable that your sister did that!!! And very sweet. :) I hope you feel better soon. It's never fun to be sick.
ReplyDeleteI know, right! Just go ahead and melt my heart, little sis. :)
DeleteThanks!
Being sick is the worst, your sister sounds like the sweetest thing.
ReplyDeleteShe is! And yes, being sick is no fun, until you start getting better, then you can start having fun again. :)
