Answering y'all's questions

A little over a week ago, I had trouble falling asleep (it was 1:30 when I posted the blogpost, but I didn't fall asleep until around 3:30 in the morning. Talk about the timezone messing up one's body clock O.o) and decided to ask y'all to ask me questions.

So now that I'm relatively back to normal, schedule-wise (yesterday was a doozy!), I'm going to answer the questions.

Jonathan:
O.O Wow that's like really brave though normally when people do something like this I normally say something like 'ARE YOU A UNICORN' XP

*cracks up* Why yes, I'd love to go around stabbing things with my forehead. XD

Lover of Lembas:
What was the first book you ever read that really changed you?
Probably the Bible.

What candy bar would you be if you were one?
*thinks* I haven't actually had that many candy bars in my life, so let's go with dark chocolate.

If you could choose, would you rather be the eldest, youngest, or middle-est sibling of your family?
Ok, so I have an older sister, right? Right. Then there's me. And then comes Christian. After him, there's a bigger gap. Ava comes along. Gabe's next. And Mia's the youngest.

So Lydia acts like the oldest, because she is the oldest. Then Christian, because he's the first boy, behaves like the oldest child in many respects. Then, because there's a gap between the older three and the younger three, Ava acts very similar to Lydia. Gabe and I are really the only ones who act like middle siblings. Then you have Mia, and because she had five older siblings and both parents to dote on her, she is the perfect picture of the baby of the family.

Really, I'm happy with where I'm at in the line up.

Do you play a sport? Is there a sport you want to learn?
Grades 6 and 7 our church at the time (we go to a different one now) did Upward basketball. So I did that. Dad likes tennis, so when us older three were younger, we did tennis camp a couple times. We used to play a football game (two-touch) every year on Thanksgiving with family from Mom's side, but that's petered out. I don't regularly play sports, but every once in a while (as mentioned before) my neighbor's and my schedules will match up and I'll meet with her to ride.

Sunrise or sunset? Why?
Sunset. It adds a sense of closure to my day. Plus, golden light!

What was your dream job as a little kid?
I think it was either a vet or a cowgirl.

What was the last movie you watched you really liked?
*scratches head* I don't even remember off the top of my head. We did watch Les Miserables recently, and though some of the singing is not first-rate, I did enjoy watching it. but seriously y'all, the 2010 live recording is so much better than the movie soundtrack!

What songs are stuck in your head?
Well, I don't really have any stuck at the moment, probably because I'm listening to music.

What is something that makes you feel nostalgic?
The new Jungle Book. I watched the animated one so much when I was younger. I was almost crying in the theater at the end of the new one because it was so beautiful.

If you were granted an extra hour to be added to your day (so you have 25 hours) what would you spend the hour doing?
Hard to say. Probably read or sleep. Maybe dedicate that hour to socialization.

What is one of the most embarrassing moments you're willing to share?
Ugh. I had something, but then I lost it. Ah! Here's one.

Earlier this year (somewhere between March and June, I'm pretty sure) our pastor was still relatively new, so all the people from the original group still didn't know the newer people who came when the pastor did. It had to have been Easter, now that I think about it. Yup, definitely Easter.

Anyways, some of us had gone early to help set up tables and get things ready for the Easter meal after the service. Sometime between the time we (Ava and I) had finished helping with the tables and the beginning of the service somebody asked Ava to get something from somewhere and she didn't know where the somewhere was, so she asked me to help her look for it.

I had no idea where the somewhere was, so I just started looking in random places and rooms with Ava and a few other girls trailing behind me. One of the doors I opened opened into a dark room, and a guy was just sitting there looking at his phone. I had no idea who he was.

If you could customize your car license plate (for most U.S. readers, that means pick any combination of 5-7 words and letters) what would you want your license plate to say?
I don 't know, I'll be just fine with whatever I end up with.

Rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, or the ocean?
To swim in: the ocean. To look at: all of them.

Meredith:
Do you like to wear makeup/nail polish?
I can't even remember the last time I had on nail polish. I can't stand the way it chips.
On a daily basis, no I don't like to put on makeup. I do wear it for Church, or maybe if I'm going somewhere.

Which is the saddest book you've read?
Well, I was on the verge of crying tears of frustration when I found out I had to reread Gulliver's Travels.

Which is the funniest book you've read?
I haven't read very many funny books lately, but Starflower is good.

On average, how many hours a week do you spend reading?
It really depends on my schedule. Could be an hour or two a day, or it could be a week without even cracking the cover open.

What is your favorite kind of tea?
Chai, peach, mint, or apple spice.

Do you prefer sleeping in or waking up early?
I enjoy sleeping in on the weekends, but during the week I try to be up around 7-7:30. I'm more of a night-owl.

If you could meet one author(living or dead), who would it be?
Tolkien or Lewis.

If you could meet one actor(living or dead), who would it be?
O.o I don't know!

Do you have a dream job? Something totally out of this world awesome??? ;)
I'd love to train horses. Or work with animals some way.

What have you heard about the upcoming Narnia movie, The Silver Chair?
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to come out in the next year or two. That's it.

What is your favorite thing about fall?
The cooler weather, colors, sweatshirts, jeans, boots, hot tea/chocolate, apple pie, Thanksgiving.

How do you eat a cupcake? (Trust me, there are several ways...)
If I have the option, I'll put it on a plate and eat it with a fork (saving the frosting for last, of course). If not, I'll eat it like a muffin.

How do you prefer your cookies? Crispy? Gooey? Half-baked? RAW?!
Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside.

Is there a traditional food and/or dessert your family makes for the holidays? What is it? (Can I possibly have a recipe?!)
Apple pie!

What is your favorite soup?
I like most soups, just not so much the blended ones (split pea, anyone?). My favorite would probably be chili.

What do you eat for breakfast during the holidays? Anything special?
A lot of oatmeal. Sometimes somebody will go by Panera Bread and get bagels. And of course, cinnamon rolls.

Do you carve out your pumpkins to decorate your porch during Halloween time?
We don't celebrate halloween. We have had uncarved pumpkins on our porch before though.

Are you excited to eat all of the delicious food waiting for us in these coming winter months?!
Absolutely!

Does it snow where you live? About how much snow do you get?
Texas. Go figure. No, not really. There was one weird year when we got about a foot of snow, but we didn't have any snow since a very light dusting early last year.

Do you make your hot cocoa special? Any extra marshmallows or whipped cream? Powdered cinnamon?! Does anyone drink champurrado?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I've never heard of champurrado, what's it like?

Well, first I'll heat water on the stove, and while that's doing its thing, I'll put equal parts sugar and cocoa powder in my mug. Then, I'll pour in the water. This past Christmas, Dad gave Mom a fancy-shmancy coffee thingy that has a milk-frother, so I'll froth some milk and pour it into the mug too. I have put cinnamon in before, but regular is good too. If we have any chocolate sauce on hand, I'll drizzle some of that in as well.

Well, that's it! I had a bunch of fun answering all the questions!

  1. Thanks for answering the tag!
P.S. If you like the 2010 recording, I think you'll really like the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Mis.

    1. I have a playlist of the original broadway, the 10th anniversary, the 2010 live, and the movie. Sometimes when I'm driving my siblings somewhere I'll play it and we'll guess which version of the song is playing. I've gotten pretty good at it. Thanks for the suggestion!

  2. Ooh, I did Upward basketball for a year! I loved it, even though I was pretty bad at it. ;)

  3. Champurrado is a Filipino dessert that's made of chocolate and rice, and I've had it but not in a drink?????

  4. Champurrado is also a Mexican drink that is frothy. It has masa (which is a corn paste we use for tamales). It's sort of like hot chocolate but with a strong cinnamon flavor. It's pretty good :D

    Thanks for answering my questions!

    1. Yeah, I've only heard a very little bit about it. I hope they don't butcher it, it's one of my favorites.
