Mkay, let's get started!

1. Hero: Jean Valjean, from Les Miz.

This guy never got a break, so it would seem. The poor man was in prison for twenty years for stealing a mouthful of bread to feed his sister's family. He got released, but then broke parole because nobody would hire him, or give him work. He is taken aback by a minister's kindness, and promises to become a better man after the minister forgives him. Valjean becomes mayor of a town, right under his former parole officer's nose. Through a series of events, he adopts a dying woman's child, raises her, saves the child's true love, spares the parole officer's life when given the chance to kill him, saves a man trapped under a fallen cart, gives food and money to the poor, and helps in the revolution.

2. Villain: Captain Hook, from Disney's Peter Pan

I mean, really? Waging war on a band of kids? Isn't that called child abuse?

3. Anti-hero: Boromir from The Lord of The Rings

Ok, I know there is a lot of controversy over his character and motives. I fall some-where in between. He's definitely not a hero figure, but his motives where his father's, not his, so technically he's not the villain either. He only wanted the ring to help protect the city from Sauron, but he couldn't see past his father's instructions to see the madness behind them.

4. Best book-to-screen adaptation: Bilbo Baggins from both Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit

Really, Ian Holm and Martin Freeman gave it their all, and portrayed Bilbo perfectly!

5. Best character perception: Mandel Patinkin's Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride

He said that when he stabbed Count Rugen as Inigo, it felt like he was killing the cancer that killed his father, and “for a moment, he was alive. And my fairy tale came true.”

I tag:

Have fun!

  2. Indigo Montoya is awesome, when I read what the actor said about that scene, I felt so bad for him. I guess that's what made this scene so powerful.
