Day trip to Waco

Yesterday, at 4:30 in the morning, my alarm went off.

Why did it go off that early?

Because we were leaving at 6 in the morning to drive 2-3 hours to Waco for no particular reason, and Aron was going to arrive at 5:30.

Everyone except Dad and Christian piled into the car, got the music situated, and drove off into the darkness.

Rain had been forecasted for Friday a couple times during the week, but we had hopes that it would not be severe.

We never exactly saw the sun come up, but it was light by about 7:30.

We stopped for breakfast at Cafe Cappuccino, around 8-8:30. It was raining, but not too hard.

It was delicious.

After that, we drove around Waco in the rain. We circled a couple parks, but did not stop because of the rain. Aron showed us the Baylor college campus, and also drove us around the law school where he took his classes.

We drove some more, stopped at a game and disc-golf store, then went to lunch at a burger place. They spelled my name 'Khole'. I had to laugh, because in all my misspelled name career, I've never had it spelt that way before. Lydia took a picture for the family blog. I should probably just show people my driver's license whenever I order something.

After lunch, we went to a coffee house so Mom and Lydia could get re-caffeinated (Thursday night, Lydia accidentally drank a fully caffeinated coffee at 8 o'clock, and was not able to sleep until about 2-2:30 Friday morning).

Then, because it was still raining off and on, we went to go see a 2:15 showing of  Miracles from Heaven.

Out of all of us, Mia and I were the only ones who didn't cry/sob during the movie. Mia, possibly because she didn't fully understand some things, and also because she was told the basic plot line, so she knew what was going to happen (unfortunately, the fact that others didn't know what was going to happen did not keep her from whispering what was going to happen next). One of the only things that kept me from crying was the fact that I told everyone it was my goal not to cry.

They said I had a heart of stone. *silently acknowledges that it is very hard for movies to make me cry*

By then, the rain had stopped enough for us to go play at a park. For a while, Lydia, Mom, and I stayed in the car. Then Lydia and I ran to go play a quick round of team disc-golf with the others. We tested the swings. They are still safe for children.

Then we played "lava monster" on the playground. "Lava monster" is a game where whoever is it stays on the ground and tries to tag people. The other people have to stay on the playground and not get tagged.

After that, some of us (not me or Mia) played "all it".

It was after 7 when we piled back into the car to figure out a dinner plan. Eventually, we decided on Chicken Express, mostly because we could eat it in the car, and because it was one of the closest places on the way back.

Us older ones have only eaten their food once, and it was because someone else was getting dinner for us and Mom was pregnant. The younger ones have never had it until now. It was okay, but it tasted almost exactly like sixflags food, which is not my cup of tea.

We arrived home right at 10:15. Pretty much everyone crashed into bed.

I stayed up later because a second wind had just hit me, and I was not tired anymore, despite the fact that I had only gotten 4.5 hours of sleep the night before. I nodded off just after midnight, after wishing a friend a happy birthday via text at exactly midnight.

Thus ended yesterday.

And now, I must either go eat lunch, or work on my current writing project.

Also, are you doing Camp NaNo this time around? I'm doing it (even though I have literally mountains of homework to do).
