May/June/July Recap

Image
I'm braindead for an interesting title, so this will have to suffice. *slowly resurfaces* Hello, yes. I am alive and well, thank you for noticing. Oh boy. Three months' worth to recap, and all busy! So. I was just going to keep it at May/June, but decided that it would just be way easier as I remember things to also add July. Happenings: 1. This actually bridged the end up April and the beginning of May, but I didn't put it in the April Recap because I didn't get it fixed until May. But anyways. My hours at Rosegate were significantly reduced due to finances and the fact that their stable hand could do the work they needed me to do, so there was really no need for me except on Saturdays. I am a college student. I have expenses, but not a whole lot of money to make sure those expenses are taken care of. Moving from three days a week to just one was not going to work for me. They did give me a week notice, so I was able to work through various conn...

Monthly recap: August

Image
August is already over? What even!? *cough* Actually August was one of my slower months as you can see from the huge number of blog posts I did  the lack thereof . Like seriously, two posts!? I have an excuse! (sort of) I did find a bunch of new music and I almost drowned when my online classes started (needless to say, to my shame, math was quickly pushed to the backburner. Gotta work on not doing that, I know). Also, I've been drooling over  the beach webcam . Mom and I are flying over on Monday, and the rest of the fam will join us on the 7th. Aunt Cendei is coming with us this time! She's gone with us two other times, but skipped last year. Stats and other bloggy news: 138 posts (counting this one) 848 comments 33 followers through Google (if you're following by email I have no idea how to keep track of you) 176 views is the record for one post 51 views is the highest for one post this month 24,958 pageviews all time Pageviews by country: Entry P...

Haiti Trip 2014

A while back, I mentioned going on a Haiti trip in 2014 with Mom and Lydia. I also said that a two-year anniversary post was coming up. This is it, by the way. June 5, 2014. Mom, Lydia, and I met up with the rest of our group that morning (7am, I think? Not sure though), who had flown in from Kansas the night before. (We were with a group from  Haiti Lifeline Ministries ) We landed in Florida, made a gate change, and got on the plane to Haiti. (I must say, it is a whole lot easier to get out of the US than it is to get back in) You know Haiti; definitely not classified as a first world country, so there was none of this 'wandering off two by two' in the Haitian airport. A truck from the orphanage we were going to met us, and the baggage was loaded on. Everyone piled inside (it was open-air, and the seats were essentially metal bleacher benches, no seatbelts). The orphanage was a good 30-45 minute drive. I say drive, but the roads were mostly unpaved and chock-full of ...

Day trip to Waco

Yesterday, at 4:30 in the morning, my alarm went off. Why did it go off that early? Because we were leaving at 6 in the morning to drive 2-3 hours to Waco for no particular reason, and Aron was going to arrive at 5:30. Everyone except Dad and Christian piled into the car, got the music situated, and drove off into the darkness. Rain had been forecasted for Friday a couple times during the week, but we had hopes that it would not be severe. We never exactly saw the sun come up, but it was light by about 7:30. We stopped for breakfast at Cafe Cappuccino, around 8-8:30. It was raining, but not too hard. It was delicious. After that, we drove around Waco in the rain. We circled a couple parks, but did not stop because of the rain. Aron showed us the Baylor college campus, and also drove us around the law school where he took his classes. We drove some more, stopped at a game and disc-golf store, then went to lunch at a burger place. They spelled my name 'Khole'. I...

The Big Picture Post

Image
This is very very long, so if you would rather skip over it, that's fine, or if you'd rather wait until you have more than five minutes to read blogposts, that's fine too. You have been warned. :) Back in *flips through calendar* November, I dragged Lydia out into the foggy morning for a photo shoot. Yes, it was a bit cold. Yes, the grass was wet. Yes, she did  have shoes on. Yeah, ok, all those shots are kind of dramatic-looking-ish, but do you have any idea how hard it was to get those? For example: I'd have her sit down, like so: Then ten seconds later, she'd look up at me like this: Here's a more recent group: I finally figured out how to do this without it being all grainy!  Love the cloud formation here: I'm so happy with this one, normally he doesn't hold still long enough for me to even think about aiming my camera at him. Morning ...
