So, uhhh... We ended up coming home from the tournament way earlier than intended. In fact, we were back home again the day we left, last Thursday. Story time: Thursday dawned bright and clear; a beautiful day for a car trip to Tyler, Texas. This time, Ava was tagging along with us, so she could watch, and see what a tournament was like, since it is possible that she will be competing next year. We were taking the family truck/suv type-thingy, so we all had plenty of room. Ava had mentioned to Mom that she didn't want to sit in the back all by herself; 1, because there is about 6-8 inches of legroom, 2, because you can't hear what going on up front as well, and 3, who knows (?). So, I chivalrously claimed the entire back row (all three seats people!) all for myself. 1, so I could stretch out my legs in a reclining position across them, 2, so I could sleep in a much more comfortable position than I could have in my usual seat, 3, because I didn't want half of m...

Bang goes that theory. -_- Night before last, the heater ran all night, and I had the brilliant idea to accidentally sleep a large portion of the night with my mouth open. Fast-forward to 7:30 yesterday morning. I woke up with a sore throat. Determined to not let it get me down, I continued to function like normal, despite the fact that all I really wanted to do was ignore my alarm clock and pull the blankets back over my head. I marched downstairs and promptly brewed myself a mug-full of tea. Most the the day, I was able to act like nothing was out of the ordinary- I was even able to finish my science for the rest of the year! (*throws confetti*) After dinner though, I started getting really really tired. When Mom read us a story in the living room, I almost fell asleep. After she finished, I went back up to my room. If it hadn't been only 8ish I would have gone to sleep immediately, but it was, so instead, I crawled into bed with a book. I little while later, little si...

Health Update

I feel like the last post was a bit too pessimistic. So let's try this the optimistic(ish) way! Mia is completely fine now. Gabe's throat is still bothering him, almost to the point of tears sometimes. but he's having a very good attitude about it. He's such a trooper! Ava is still ok. Christian is perfectly healthy again. My eyes are cleared out now, (praise the Lord!) but my cough is doing a replay of Montana. Lydia is still coughing a bit. Mom's feeling more perky. To quote a famous movie: "If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."  Dad's still holding out. Hasn't gotten sick yet, still working away. So really, as a whole, most of us are doing fine. While the rest of us are doing our best to keep track of what meds we need to take, and focusing on getting better as soon as possible. Out of curiosity, what do you think of the new look? I like that it's simpler and easier to navigate withou...

'Tis the Season

To have allergies. It's that time of the year again. (Why does it have to come twice  every  year though?) Everything's starting to die and decompose (plant wise), resulting in a lot more things in the air besides gasses, also more runny noses and sneezing fits. Mia's getting her six-year-old molars, so she's being more cranky than normal. Gabe has a sore throat. As far as I know, Ava is still fine. Christian just got his bottom braces, so his mouth is still slightly sore. He also seems to have a bit of a sore throat. I've been coughing more than normal in the mornings. Almost every time I go outside, I try to break my sneezing record. My eyes are being hyper-sensitive. It's amazing how much worse they look after doing a math lesson and scoring badly. Lydia has a stopped up nose, but other than that, I think she's fine. Mom has been super tired ever since we got back from Montana. Dad is off at meetings several times a week. He's a...

Hand, Foot, and Mouth

And so, the epidemic begins. Somehow, a family in our church caught hand, foot, and mouth disease, and have since passed it on to us. Both Gabe and Mia have it, and it is only a matter of time before all the kids have it, or we are all healthy again. Lydia has not been exposed...yet. So that's good. But she can't eat with us. Her and my room is supposedly a 'safe zone', so none of the kids are allowed in there, except, of course, me, because I sleep in there. Mom made a run for food before we were quarantined, and Lydia checked out a few books and movies from the itty bitty library. While everyone else watched the original Swiss Family Robinson , Christian and I watched Captain America  (review to come). Hopefully we will be back to normal soon. ~Chloe
