The weekend without coffee (plus some ramblings)

I find it strange how one minute you can be completely brain dead, but the next you can talk a mile a minute. Friday started at 4:30 in the morning for me, because despite all my preparations the night before, I still had not packed my debate bag or straightened my hair, plus I have a legitimate fear of being late for anything and everything, and thus plan extra time for almost everything. Check in was at 7:30. We only lived half an hour away from the building (everyone was excited about that!). They were running a little late, so the first round wasn't until about 8:15, whereas under normal tournament circumstances, it would have started at 8. Christian and I were affirmative that round. It ended at about 9:35, leaving us 10 minutes to prepare for the next round at 9:45. Usually they plan two hours for each debate, however, they decided to give us 15 minutes between the first two rounds for some strange reason. We rushed back to the student area to wait for postings to g...

Warning: this is going to be an incredibly long post, so you may want to come back to it later. *cracks knuckles* Alright, let's do this! Tags: On January 21st,  Mary  tagged me for the Blogging About Blogs tag. The Rules: 1. Thank the person who tagged you. (thanks dearie!) 2. Answer the questions. 3. Tag some blogging friends. The Questions: 1) Blog that makes me laugh: Cait  at  Paper Fury  has a hilarious blog. I almost always end up making rather unladylike snorts whilst trying to keep the giggles at bay.  Also,  Treskie  at  Occasional Randomness ,   Jack  at  However improbable , and  Writefury  always manage to brighten my day when I'm feeling down. 2) Blog that makes me think: Just one? Are you kidding me? No way, I'm so bending this rule (I'll probably end up bending all of them) Kara  at  Coffee With Kara ,  Amanda  at  Scattered Journal Pages ,  Christin...

12 Days of Thanksgiving Tag

In the midst of: preparing and stressing for our first Speech and Debate Tournament, freaking out at the fact that there's only a week and a half of NaNoWriMo and I've not even hit 10K words yet, plotting the prequel of said writing project, and somehow drinking 21 eight-ounce cups of tea in one day (I usually only drink three, but one time I had 15, so I was trying to break my record and have 18, but then I decided to keep going), S.F.  tagged me for the *racks brain trying to remember* 12 Days of Thanksgiving Tag! Thanks dearie! The rules: 1. List 12 things that you are grateful for 2. Tag as many bloggers as you want, making sure to tell them of their nomination. 12 things I am grateful for (mostly in order of importance): 1. Our Father in Heaven 2. My family and church family 3. The Speech and Debate community we are involved in 4. The humor of said community 5. A roof over my head, with a nice view attached 6. Tea (though I may not ...

In Which I Randomly Write About Tea, Snakes, Books, And Other Random Things

Or, maybe I'll talk  write about why I like tea. Probably going to do both. I love tea! Even though I manage to forget I have it while it's brewing, until, of course, two or three hours later. I like it strong. And cold. One time, I had a tea drinking contest with Christian throughout the entire day. He quit after six cups, I stopped after ten. I wanted to make sure I beat him. Out of The Silent Planet  (C.S. Lewis) is a great story! It almost reminds me of Gulliver's Travels . “You could never get a cup of tea large enough, or a book long enough to suit me.” – C. S. Lewis (True, that^) I over-slept this morning.  Lydia has a baby come from 6am to 5:30pm on Tuesdays. Baby was rather 'joyful' this morning.  A snake found me in the nesting-box area of the chicken coop on Sunday night. I didn't scream like a little  girl. They are a whole lot scarier when they are at eye-level. Lydia freaked out screamed like a little girl, though she states tha...
