Moving On (IMPORTANT- I hate to sound click-baity, but please read)

Image
Yes, the title is what it looks like. No, I am not leaving the blogging world, merely moving. *points again to title* See, it doesn't say "Leaving Forever, I Hope I'm Missed." But why the sudden change? I feel like this blog has run its course and done its purpose. It was a good stepping off point and learning opportunity, and now I feel like I'm ready to move. Looking back over everything I've written, I feel like I've settled and set the standard for what I want my blog to look like. I want to take everything I learned from Rustling Thoughts and start fresh again. But instead of completely overhauling this blog, I want to keep it and look back on it as it is without losing anything. It's been rolling around in the back of my mind for a few weeks now, and I've finally sat down and done it. I've made a lot of friends through Rustling Thoughts, even when it used to be The Shy Introvert. I improved my writing and proofreading ab...

Ding Dong The Cluck is Gone

Image
Darth Cluck, as Christian has been calling him, croaked his last this morning. Christian had just set down the freshly-filled water bucket, when the rooster went for his face. Christian managed to block him with his hand, but still got a cut across his index finger. He promptly marched inside (after doing whatever else he needed to do) and declared that that was the last straw. Mom and Dad briefly discussed whether or not we really wanted the meat before asking Grandfather to dispose of him. Dad didn't want the meat, so Grandfather went out and peppered Darth Cluck with birdshot. He was a beautiful bird on the outside, but his attitude was horrid on the inside. I won't get to make a chicken pot pie out of him, but I'm positive it would have tasted amazing. It's nice not having to watch my back anymore when I go down to put them up for the night. Although it was an eggcellent (pun intended) exercise of reflexes and predicting, it was getting rather rough,...

Me again

Hi, yes. So, I know I already said I'd see y'all tomorrow ( in the post I posted like 5 seconds ago ), but I had a thought: Should I change my blog look? It's been a couple months since I changed the header, and it was last year that I changed the background to wood. I'm not really thinking a header change, more of a complete over-haul. What say you? Complete over-haul? Or just a touch up, maybe a new header and background?

I have procured a laptop, I repeat, I have procured a laptop!

But first, Happy Easter to all! We essentially had an open house for our entire church (which, as far as I know, does not consist of even one hundred people yet). It was awesome. We had the house spic and span with flowers in almost every room downstairs. People came and went between 11 in the morning and 4(?) in the afternoon. Then after cleaning up, we lounged around for a bit. Aron (see the  Family Blog  if you don't know who he is), as well as Mom's parents and Aunt Lauren and Uncle Phil stayed with us for a late dinner and movie. Earlier this year, I told Dad that I was going to start saving for a laptop. Because I wanted to have access to one whenever I needed one (because, writing inspiration at odd hours and brother needing the laptop for school can make things rather awkward), I wanted to blog more, and I'll most likely be needing one for myself for school related things. A week or two ago, Aunt Lauren mentioned that she was going to be selling her laptop,...

It's been a year

Image
On this day, February 22, of last year, I published my first blogpost. Anybody know where the time went? Because I'm pretty sure I did this yesterday. The night before, while Mom and I were driving home (I think from church), I asked her the important question: "Can I start a blog?" She asked me why, and I gave her the reasons I had been coming up with since a few weeks before: improve my writing skills, share some of my photography, talk about life, etc. I was all excited about trying something new. I had done my research, so to speak, and I knew what I wanted to use this blog for. I jumped in, headfirst, and plowed through actually making the blog. I had fun trying out all the gadgets, and ended up spending several hours writing my first post. And so, The Shy Introvert. After many, many changes, now you see the finished product; perfect for now, in my eyes, but who knows if and when I'll do a compete overhaul on the design, or if I'll do another name ch...

I'm Hired

So. I got my first job. Cue Mom and Nana excitedly dancing around the room while I stand in triumph. Ok, I really am excited! The lady who hired me is a photographer who does seniors, families, and horses. She's really very nice, when we sat down to do the interview, she pulled out a notebook and said it was basically her brain, and that some days her phone is her brain as well. She loves to talk, and is very easy to listen to. Her studio is about 15-20 minutes away, and her house is about two minutes away. For the first few weeks, she'll mostly be teaching me how the ropes of what she does, so I'll not be paid, but that's completely fine, I wasn't expecting anything more than that. I start tomorrow. Now, back to NaNoWriMo, which I am already behind on. By like, more than I should feel comfortable with.

NaNoWriMo, Speech and Debate, Glasses, and the Edge of the World

Image
So I've heard a lot of rustlings of NaNoWriMo in the blogosphere during the past few weeks. Maybe a week or two ago Lydia asked the question that had been rolling around in my head for a few days: "What if we did NaNoWriMo?" So I mulled over it some more, and long story short, I think I'm going to try it! I've already got the makings of a plot, I'm going to see if I can weave "Robin Hood" with "Sleeping Beauty". I wrote (in my head, mind you) the first chapter/prologue when I was trying to sleep, and was quite pleased with it. I've got a  Pinterest Board  set up for it. I've got names picked out. I'm starting to get super excited! Now, about Speech and Debate. Lydia and I are doing a duo for Speech, if you are unfamiliar with what that is, just look up "speech duo" on Youtube. We are doing "The Tiger, The Brahman, and The Jackal", a fable text from India. But we've reworked it to take place i...

Too Bad 'Sweet' Isn't In Front of 17

Happy birthday to me It's a party of three Everyone else is in Maui So now it's just us three Today I turn seventeen. That sentence has been staring me in the face for the past few weeks. I feel like a deer stuck in the middle of the road watching a semi barrel down the highway at full speed. "What on earth! I'm not old enough to be seventeen yet! I still like to color (stress reliever, ok?), play with my model horses, and pretend that mom is still taller than me."  It's been a great year though. Mom, the littles (Ava, Gabe, Mia), and Lydia are all in Maui. A little bird told me they'd celebrate on the beach for me. We (Dad, Christian, and I) will be meeting them in a few days. Oh wait, that's like, in four days...I gotta pack soon! One of the traditions we have for birthdays is, Mom and Dad will take the lucky person out for breakfast. Seeing as how Mom wouldn't be here, they came and asked me if I would rather have breakfa...

Should I?

One night, my brain simply refused to let me sleep, and brought up this fact: I'm not as shy as I once was. And, my blog does not reflect how shy I still am. I mean, I can attempt to actually talk to people I know in a public setting, which was not possible a year or two ago. Granted, I still prefer a good book to a party, but my point is, I'm getting more talkative(ish). Which brings me to the conclusion that a blog name-change is in order. I don't really feel  like changing it, but I sort-of want to. I know, that doesn't really make any sense, whatsoever. So, basically, I'm asking y'all if I should change the name, and for name suggestions. Based on what I sound like when I write, what should the name be? I've thought about "Rustling Thoughts" or "Pages From A Bookworm", but what do y'all think? ~Chloe
